Auburn University Earth Day Celebration

If you missed the 40+ exhibits from Auburn University Earth Day 2006, it is time to mark your calendars now for Auburn University Earth Day 2007 to be held Thursday, April 19 at Foy Union and Haley Center in the heart of campus. More details on exact times and locations will be coming soon. Local, state and national organizations as well as campus groups will be displaying information related to our environment. If you are interested in exhibiting at the event, complete and submit our online registration form.

Auburn University Earth Day Acoustical Expression

Join other talented musicians in a celebration of Auburn University Earth Day 2007 by joining them for some acoustical interludes on the lawn at Foy Union. Bring your own instrument or pick up one of ours and join this energy efficient, interactive and acoustic experience. Earth Day Film Festival

  • Maquilapolis - a documentary about the lives of Mexican migrant workers working in factories on the Mexican side of the border 8 am.
  • An Inconvenient Truth - a documentary about the causes and effects of climate change. 9:30 am.
  • Baraka - an experimental documentary shot in 74 countries exploring both Earth's diversity and human's effect on the environment 11 am.
  • The Corporation - documentary linking global climate change and the corporate world 12:30 pm.
  • Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price - a documentary showing the negative effects of big box stores on small communities 2 pm.

The Second Great Earth Day Challenge - Recycled Attire!

Watch creative minds at work! Teams of students from the departments of Fashion Design, Architecture, and Industrial Design will have one hour to construct an outfit for models from the Fashion Design out of recycled materials. Each team will be given a container of similar recycled materials and minimal "tools" to create a work of recycled attire. Come cheer on your favorite team. The winning team will have the honor of holding the Great Earth Day Challenge trophy for one year. At the end of the judging, a brief "fashion show" will be held on the concourse area between Cater Hall and Foy Union.

Earthfest 2007 - Rock the Arboretum III

The Donald E. Davis Arboretum will host Earthfest 2007 "Rock the Arboretum III" on Saturday, April 21, 2007 from 1:00 pm to dark. This daylong event will feature music, educational displays, food, fellowship, and dozens of native plants in bloom. Admission if free, but you are asked to bring a rock to help build paths and walls in the arboretum. Bands performing include: Family Groove Co., Ben Nelson Band, Strangelove Ocean, Hermatovore and more. Parkerson Mill Creek Cleanup

IMPACE, Auburn University Sustainability Initiative, Donald E. The Market at Ag Heritage Park Season Kickoff

This event kicks-off the 2007 season of The Market at Ag Heritage Park, a grower-only farmers' market held on the Auburn campus. Produce, art, music and food will be on tap for the event, which will also celebrate Earth Day and focus on sustainable living. The spring farmers market will begin at 3:00 pm and include strawberries, tomatoes, onions, goat cheese, honey, baked goods and much more. A music festival will begin at 6:30 pm featuring bluegrass and reggae music from well-known regional bands BPM and Blue 32.
